II. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Please provide a summary of your project

ANEL Art Complex is located south of the town of Sozopol, Bulgaria, Budjaka Peninsula (Kolokita area) - a natural phenomenon with many fjords, the most beautiful and picturesque part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is located in a place kissed by God - on the rocky, majestic cape "Christ". During the construction of the complex a unique symbiosis between architecture and nature was achieved. It has a remarkable botanical garden and a unique for Bulgaria sculptural exhibition with works by the most famous Bulgarian artists in the field of plastic art. Along the rocky shore are many works of monumental art.The authors: Velichko Minekov, Krum Damyanov, Valentin Starchev, Emil Popov, Pavel Koychev, Vezhdi Rashidov and Maria Gergova create the first sculpture park of its kind, bringing together the power of the sea and art. Their works gradually move from the shore to the green lawn, and from there, together with the subtropical vegetation, they stand silently between the houses.

The Kolokita area is a natural phenomenon with dozens of fjords. At this place the poet Angel Simeonov began to write poetry again. He has written many books, dozens of his poems have become lyrics to songs sung by famous Bulgarian artists.

From the beginning of the idea, it features the development of a sculptural space among the beautiful shores surrounding the complex. Angel Simeonov's idea is to build the space in resonance with the surrounding nature, to preserve the biological species in the area and to promote the natural sculpture park not only among the Bulgarian population but also abroad.

The place attracts tourists from all over the world with its unique symbiosis between nature and human activity. In addition to the sculptural exposition in the complex are exhibited paintings by great, famous mariners, old masters, masters of the brush from the talented generation of the 60s and 80s of last century and contemporary artists.

The main goal of the management of the complex is to maintain the connection with nature by creating a place for rest and work, which is consistent with the preservation of ecological, climatic and biological balance. The art complex is located south of the town of Sozopol, Budjaka Peninsula (Kolokita area) - a natural phenomenon with many fjords, the most beautiful and picturesque part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is located in a place kissed by God - on the rocky, majestic cape "Christ"

During the construction of the complex a unique symbiosis between architecture and nature was achieved. It has a remarkable botanical garden and a unique for Bulgaria sculptural exhibition with works by the most famous Bulgarian artists in the field of plastic art. All premises in the complex are built on the basis of the use of renewable energy sources, natural materials and are in accordance with the natural conditions in the area "Budjaka".

On an area of about 20 acres are located 12 houses, a park, a restaurant, a tennis court (volleyball court), swimming pools, beaches and the majestic Bulgarian nature. Heating and cooling are provided by energy-saving air conditioners powered by solar panels. In Art Complex Anel you will find some of the most exciting and interesting menus, presented in the most original way. It relies on pure natural products, traditional dishes and preservation of culinary traditions.

The main pool is located near the restaurant and overlooks the sea. Filled with sea water, this huge pool is surrounded by lush greenery, offering the best place to relax. Near the main pool is the children's pool full of sea water and is designed specifically for our young guests. Below the main and children's pool on the rocky beach is the lake. Designed to be constantly filtered by the sea, it is an oasis with invigorating turquoise waters.

Please give information about the key objectives of your project in terms of aesthetics and quality of experience beyond functionality and how these have been met.
Please highlight how the project can be exemplary in this context

The complex has a unique for Bulgaria sculptural exhibition with works by the most famous Bulgarian artists in the field of plastic art. Along the rocky shore are many works of monumental art. The authors: Velichko Minekov, Krum Damyanov, Valentin Starchev, Emil Popov, Pavel Koychev, Vezhdi Rashidov and Maria Gergova create the first sculpture park of its kind, bringing together the power of the sea and art. Their works gradually move from the shore to the green lawn, and from there, together with the subtropical vegetation, they stand silently between the houses

Soft brown and pastel colors, wooden furniture, paintings painted by the brushes of famous Bulgarian artists, handmade sculptures create an incredible atmosphere and style, which is complemented by panoramic views of the Black Sea. The aesthetic pleasure of the works of art, together with the all-natural materials used in the complex, contribute to the incredible experience of the visitors.

Every visitor of the complex will be greeted by the peace and quiet of the park, which is planted with exotic Mediterranean vegetation, alleys pass between statues of famous Bulgarian sculptures and end in Cape "Christ" with the iconic statue of the Cross of Christ.

As he himself says - In this complex I have put my heart and soul. And this is evident in the way people perceive the exhibitions in the complex and touch the art there

Please give information about the key objectives of your project in terms of inclusion (equal opportunities, public participation, citizen engagement, co-design, universal design, accessibility, affordability, etc.) and how these have been met.
Please highlight how the project can be exemplary in this context

The complex is accessible to all citizens who wish to visit it. During its construction, people from the town of Sozopol, Burgas region took an active part and currently they are part of the staff working there. Most of the works of art are made from materials from the region and especially from the stone quarry in Chernomorets. The complex is accessible for disadvantaged citizens, the disabled.

Our project includes the active participation of the citizens of the region in several key activities. All the materials used to implement the idea come from the region and are part of its ecological diversity. The stones from which the statues are made were mined in the quarry in the town of Chernomorets and are part of the natural resources of the region. The people who worked on the construction of the complex are local citizens and they and their families are part of our project.

Today the complex employs over 100 people from the region of Sozopol and thus we enable the region to develop as an excellent tourist destination. Artists are the other part of our business. The complex exhibits works by famous Bulgarian marine artists and sculptors. Much of our cultural society organizes its events in our complex and we have a rich artistic program that enjoys not only our guests but also visitors from the local population. This Art Center allows a small town like Sozopol to be a cultural center all year round. The citizens of the district mostly benefit from this.

Please explain how these three dimensions have been combined in your project.
Please highlight how this approach can be exemplary

Our main goal is through art to make people feel the connection with nature and to have different emotional experiences in our complex. We have achieved this thanks to the excellent symbiosis between architecture, design and natural landmarks.

The territory of the complex is used for organizing events, cultural events and spiritual ceremonies. In the last one year there have been a number of creative initiatives, exhibitions, literary readings and more. The manager Angel Simeonov himself is a poet and some of the best Bulgarian songs have been created based on his verses. People visiting the complex can enjoy not only the beautiful nature, but also many cultural initiatives and be part of the audience.

Citizens have been actively involved in the development of the project over the years, due to the fact that the area is a protected area and the preservation of ecological balance is essential. Their participation gives confidence that the complex is part of nature conservation and the coast around Cape Christ

Please give information on the results/impacts achieved by your project in relation to the category you apply for

The result of our project is the creation of an open art space in which people feel closer to nature, surrounded by works of art. In the last year the complex has been visited by thousands of citizens, both from Bulgaria and abroad. This contributes to the development of ecological tourism in the region and leads to social positives for the community. First of all, it preserves the natural landmarks of the region and makes them more recognizable and accessible to the general public. It allows for the creation of new jobs without endangering the ecological balance in the region

Our candidacy in this category is entirely related to a new trend, namely the relationship between nature - art - man. What we offer is not only a vacation in nature, but also an experience of emotional fullness. The events we organize on the beach among the sculptures give a unique look to each of them and makes them unforgettable for our visitors.

Our project fully covers the guidelines of the New European Bauhaus and its results are seen in the public's desire to expand our exhibition of sculptures . In 2022 we will discover the sculpture of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius on May 24, which will mark the day of Slavic writing and culture.

On 24.05.2022 in the complex will be presented the book of Angel Simeonov - Flowers from my soul.

Please explain how citizens and civil society were involved in the in the design and/or implementation of the project.
Please also explain the benefits that derived from their involvement.

Most of the employees of Art Complex ANEL are residents of the region. Most of the materials used in the construction of the complex are produced in nearby cities.

An extremely important point is the fact that next to the complex there are architectural excavations of an old monastery from the 16th century. Mr. Simeonov is part of a civic initiative committee for the restoration of the monastery. At this place 6 centuries ago there was a community of monks who have preserved the traditions of Christianity. After the monastery was burned, most of the icons were transferred to the Princes' Islands. The aim of the Initiative Committee is to rebuild the monastery and return the icons to it. Society supports this initiative.

In the summer, Anel Art Complex organizes children's art schools to which special attention is paid not only to art but also to nature conservation. For this purpose, the children are trained in the open spaces in the park, take care of the exotic botanical garden and learn to be people with a strong ecological position.

Please explain what kind of global challenges the project addressed by providing local solutions

In recent years, people have increasingly remained closed and away from nature. With our solution we want to take people away from the closed spaces and give them the opportunity to enjoy not only nature but also remarkable cultural projects. With its location, the complex ensures the preservation of climatic conditions and does not change the natural resources. The place becomes home to various species of birds and ensures their population. All visitors to the complex have the pleasure to reconnect with nature, to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the botanical garden, to feel the fresh and clean air.

The global problem of alienation, which is part of the new reality, can be solved by projects like ours. The guests of the complex become part of the society that we have been trying to build in the last year. The place suggests that our guests feel protected, calm and at the same time close to nature and art. Each room of the complex is part of a gallery with paintings of our mariners and gives comfort, coziness and aesthetic pleasure.

Please highlight the innovative character of the project as compared to mainstream practices in the field of the project.

On a European scale, there are no other complexes that offer a holiday among works of art. Each room in the complex is part of a gallery of famous Bulgarian artists, as can be seen on the website and social media pages of Art Complex ANEL. This is an innovative solution for Bulgaria and has made a huge contribution to the promotion of Bulgarian culture.

In mass practice, the only thing he relies on is the connection with nature and good rest. What we offer, in addition to the above, is to optimize the holiday and the connection with nature with a touch of fine art.

Please explain to the potential of transferring the projects’ results or learnings to other interested parties and contexts.
Please provide clear documentation, communication of methodology and principles in this context.

The results of our work on the construction of Art Complex ANEL can be viewed on the company's website, and our organization is ready to provide its idea for use by stakeholders.

First of all, anyone who wants to build such a complex needs to get acquainted with the history of the place, make an environmental assessment and ask the public about the need for such a reserve. All this involves in-depth investor research.
