GREEN AGORA
Full project title
MORE TREES LESS CONCRETE- NATURE ENTERS THE SCHOOL YARD
Description

The main idea was to bring nature into a secondary school in a deprived area of Bailen, a small town in the north of Andalusia s. The yard has been transformed using kids' ideas and drawings. They asked for trees and we added bee friendly plants to create an open air space to relax and study. Most of these children live in flats and hard environments, although they are close to the countryside they are detached of nature and its benefits. We have gathered all the process in a video and a pdf

II. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Please provide a summary of your project

It has been a participatory process for five months with 139 students aged 11 to 15 years old. They have learned about the global goals, especially the Goal Number 11, and have designed a new school yard with us. They have chosen what to do in the yard and finally agreed to connect their play area with nature as it was a vast area of concrete. They chose the trees and planted them. We have recycled and recovered old benches. Now they enjoy the flowers and the shades in spring and summer. They love the new GREEN AGORA  and many of them are interested in Architecture as a potential career. They have learned that architecture can improve their lives.
