Description

Sustainable lifestyle is important for most people which is why I created my awareness raising,

II. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Please provide a summary of your project

Sustainable lifestyle is important for most people which is why I created my awareness raising,
knowledge-experience based activity that helps us to assist with the social responsibility of
events and festivals as well as educate about that through programs at schools and
kindergartens. Specially prepared climate and environment conscious tools educate the
participants in a playful way about environmentally sustainable social behavior. During the course of the 8 events we reached almost 5.000 people in person with the help of 15 volunteers and 5 colleagues. Thanks to the coverage of local media and social platforms our project reached around 30.000 people.

Please indicate the main themes of your project with 5 key words
Sustainability
Climate
Manufacture
Responsibility
Consciousness
Please give information about the key objectives of your project in terms of sustainability (including circularity) and how these have been met.
Please highlight how the project can be exemplary in this context

One of the objectives of the project was to have knowledge-experience based programs that
can assist with the social and corporate responsibility and the development of conscious
lifestyle and sustainable behavior. As an effect, these environmentally conscious and playful
education tools and ideas were promoted and organizations as well as individuals were able to
integrate them into their everyday lives. These ideas give a new perspective and
communication that can serve as an example for similar programs in the future. Part of these
playful visual aids and other tools were created from recycled furniture and other materials thus
supporting circular economy.

Please give information about the key objectives of your project in terms of aesthetics and quality of experience beyond functionality and how these have been met.
Please highlight how the project can be exemplary in this context

My goal was to create tools that inspire the participants to create their own, similar playful tools.
There is no such good-quality and stylish educational and knowledge-experience based tools
about sustainability right now in the event sector like these, that is why I created them in the first
place. And they served their purpose too because after the events other organizations and
groups were interested in them too, while the fact that they are stylish and attention-grabbing
were recognized by the guests. Aesthetics and functionality paired with a playful way can be
exemplary for other organizations on how to educate about sustainable lifestyle.

Please give information about the key objectives of your project in terms of inclusion (equal opportunities, public participation, citizen engagement, co-design, universal design, accessibility, affordability, etc.) and how these have been met.
Please highlight how the project can be exemplary in this context

After deciding to make these educational tools my primary objective was to educate not to gain
profit, so I was able to give significant discounts via specified contracts to organizations in need
that wanted to require my services but did not have the means to do so. Most of the time these
events were realized as part of free open programs with the help of volunteers. Some of the
events were specifically for children in school and/or kindergarten.
Those participating in the program had the opportunity to try these knowledge-experience
based programs for free, regardless of age, gender, financial situation and background. The
programs that were held with the help of volunteers are exemplary in regard of community and
collaboration.

Please explain how these three dimensions have been combined in your project.
Please highlight how this approach can be exemplary

Sustainability is important for all of us and for the future generation as well, so I created a
project that was available for everyone. The events were free so various social groups could
participate regardless of financial background. Minorities from local communities were attending
in large numbers and they could go home with quality experiences that go beyond functionality.
The playful, knowledge-experience based tools helped to give a quality experience. Thus, the
three dimensions were indeed combined, and they contributed to the success of the project.

Please give information on the results/impacts achieved by your project in relation to the category you apply for

After implementing the project, the connection to the environment and sustainability was
noticeably strengthened in the locals. Local organizations realized the need for similar events,
so they organized further programs about sustainability, and they integrated the experiences
into their own operations. After the event individuals also felt more responsibility towards nature
so they organized programs to restore the environment locally. There were settlements that
organized litter collection or invited children to a drawing competition to strengthen their
connection to the environment.

Please explain how citizens and civil society were involved in the in the design and/or implementation of the project.
Please also explain the benefits that derived from their involvement.

Students and volunteers helped with the events who could identify with environmental values
and sustainable lifestyle. By participating they could authentically educate about the
environmental, social and economic advantages of sustainability. The communication, quality
and style of my educational tools gave the students and volunteers new perspective on
approaching these issues. They could create new relationships and found the common
connection in the diversity of the participants. During the course of the 8 events we reached almost 5.000 people in person with the help of 15 volunteers and 5 colleagues. Thanks to the coverage of local media and social platforms our project reached around 30.000 people.

Please explain what kind of global challenges the project addressed by providing local solutions

During the course of the project, we raised awareness about renewable energy sources, the
importance of selective waste collection and reusable materials. The waste that is caused by
packaging materials is a huge problem globally thus it is extremely important to cover this
subject. How can we reuse these materials? How can we shop in a more conscious and
sustainable way? How can we reduce waste? These are just some of the questions that were
answered during the events. Renewable energy is becoming more popular, and its utilization is
becoming more and more important. Using finite energy sources are not sustainable in the long
term and using them puts more and more environmental weight on the shoulder of our society
so we communicated the importance of solar energy, hydropower and wind-power with the help
of my knowledge-experience based tools.

Please highlight the innovative character of the project as compared to mainstream practices in the field of the project.

Participants could experience the restoration of our connection to the environment with the help
of uniquely created tools. They could learn with the help of these new, never-before-seen
games. The unique and stylish tools helped to grab the attention of every participant at the
events. They were truly interested in experiencing the way to sustainability. Contrary to general
practice, the participants got a colorful, innovative and knowledge-experience based program.
Similar projects lack detail and put less emphasis on interaction. But the bigger the emphasis on
experience the better the result and the stronger the knowledge after learning.

Please explain to the potential of transferring the projects’ results or learnings to other interested parties and contexts.
Please provide clear documentation, communication of methodology and principles in this context.

While implementing projects like this, you need to have visual aids to help people better
understand the subject. Most of the participants specially mentioned the stylish and detailed
execution along with the good presentation and the knowledge of the volunteers and
professionals. While educating, it is good to have awareness raising and interactive tools that
show the environment conscious behavior in a stylish way. The involvement of the participants
and grabbing their attention are particularly important so we can only achieve our goals with the required knowledge, empathy and interactive tools. To start a widespread communication and in
time create a norm about these themes, it would be great to implement more and more similar
projects with increasing number of participants. Various economic stakeholders and institutions
could help with social responsibility by implementing similar programs for example at family
days, exhibitions or educational events.
